Having been established in 1993, Forum Cinemas AS has in 17 years developed into Estonia’s largest film distributor and cinema operator.
Forum Cinemas AS holds distribution rights to Estonian territory of many large film companies including 20th Century Fox, New Line Cinema, UIP and many others. As we place great emphasis on offering a wide selection of films, we have increased the number of new releases yearly: in 2002 we brought to screens 61 new motion pictures, however in 2005 the total exceeded 110 releases with the total of more than 130 new films on screen together with other distributors’ products.
Over the years Forum Cinemas AS has made large investments into improving the screening quality in Estonia – cinemas Kosmos in Tallinn and Ekraan in Tartu underwent large-scale renovation works during which both cinemas acquired one additional screening hall, latest projection and sound equipments were installed. The pride of Estonian cinema is however the 11-screen multiplex Coca-Coca Plaza in Tallinn. In April 2006 we opened our new 3 screen cinema "Forum Cinemas Astri" in Narva.
In 1999 Forum Cinemas AS was acquired by Finland’s largest cinema chain Finnkino Oy that uses the chain name Forum Cinemas for its operations in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Finnkino with its Baltic subsidiaries belongs to a trade and service company Rautakirja Oy which in turn is the daughter company of SanomaWSOY, one of the leading media concerns in Nordic countries.
Forum Cinemas AS currently employs around 140 people. Many of them are young people and students to whom we offer a chance to acquire valuable work experience. Since the establishment of the company, Forum Cinemas managing director has been Aldo Tammsaar.
